Childbirth Preparation

Welcome to our comprehensive Childbirth Preparation Class, a two-part program designed to empower and guide expectant parents through the transformative journey of pregnancy, labor, and delivery.  From the early signs of labor to the moment you hold your newborn, this workshop provides practical guidance on coping strategies, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. You’ll also learn about medical interventions, potential complications, and the importance of effective communication with your healthcare team. This class will help you and your support person build confidence in navigating the challenges of labor and delivery.

Enrollment Details:

Each enrollment includes admission for you and one chosen support person, recognizing the significance of a strong support network during childbirth.
Classes are facilitated by our certified childbirth educator.

By enrolling in our Childbirth Preparation Class, you are taking a proactive step towards a positive and informed birthing experience. Together, we aim to empower you and your support person with knowledge, confidence, and a sense of readiness for the incredible journey of bringing new life into the world.

 

This class is from 10AM to 4PM, there will be a lunch break.   The hospital’s cafeteria will be open, or you may pack a lunch.   Please bring a water bottle and snack if needed as well.

Introduction to Breastfeeding (In Person)

We are excited to offer this session of Introduction to Breastfeeding IN PERSON at our Outpatient Center on Oxford Drive.  Prepare for your breastfeeding journey in this class for expectant parents, taught by a lactation consultant/ registered nurse. Learn essential techniques, tips for success, and how to overcome common challenges. Partners are encouraged to attend!

Seating is limited due to classroom size.  Each RSVP includes one support person.

Baby Basics (In Person)

Join us for a 3-hour, hands-on Baby Basics class designed for expecting parents. Taught by a registered nurse, this course covers essential newborn care, including feeding, diapering, bathing, and soothing techniques. Gain confidence in your parenting journey with expert guidance and practical tips. Perfect for families preparing to welcome their little one!

Family and Friends; Infant and Child CPR (Afternoon)

The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

From Bump to Baby: Pelvic Floor Health Essentials for New and Expectant Parents (A Virtual Class via Zoom)

Join our Pelvic Floor Health Class, led by Jessica Hammond, OTR/L, an experienced occupational and pelvic floor therapist. Gain practical knowledge to promote comfort, strength, and well-being to empower you during the prenatal and postpartum period.

 

Who should attend?

Pregnant Individuals: Attendees can learn preventive measures to support pelvic floor health during pregnancy and prepare for childbirth.

Postpartum Individuals: Those who have recently given birth can benefit from learning techniques to aid in recovery, strengthen pelvic floor muscles, and address any issues that may have arisen during pregnancy or childbirth.

Those Planning Pregnancy: Individuals planning to conceive can attend to learn about maintaining pelvic floor health in preparation for pregnancy and childbirth.

This class is offered, for free, on September 26th at 6:30PM via Zoom.
