When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Sudden numbness or weakness
  • Confusion, trouble talking or understanding speech
  • Sudden vision problems
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, or loss of balance or coordination
  • Sudden severe headache

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Memory problems
  • Loss of sense of smell
  • Slow to identify objects or people
