Uremia


A condition involving abnormally high levels of waste products in the blood.

Overview

Uremia is a dangerous condition that occurs when the kidneys no longer filter properly. It's likely to occur when a person is in the final stage of chronic kidney disease.

Symptoms

Symptoms include fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, a metallic taste in the mouth, a distinctive breath odor, and mental confusion.

Treatments

Treatment includes dialysis or a kidney transplant.
