Persistent problems falling or staying asleep or both.

Most cases of insomnia are related to poor sleep habits, depression, stress, or anxiety, lack of exercise, chronic illness, or certain medications.

Symptoms may include difficulty falling or staying asleep and not feeling well-rested after a night's sleep.

Improving sleep habits, using behavior therapies, or identifying and treating underlying causes is safer and more effective than sleeping pills.
