Fatty liver disease

An increased buildup of fat in the liver.

Fatty liver risk factors include excessive alcohol use, certain drugs, metabolism abnormalities, and excess weight.

It usually causes no symptoms. Fatigue, weight loss, and weakness sometimes occur.

Treatment involves addressing the underlying cause, such as excess weight or alcohol use. If not treated, fatty liver may lead to liver failure.
