Premature menopause


Menopause occurring before age 40 caused by chemotherapy or surgical removal of the ovaries.

Overview

In premature menopause, the ovaries have either been removed or don't produce normal amounts of the hormone estrogen or release eggs.

Symptoms

Symptoms include infertility, hot flashes and irritability.

Treatments

Treatment includes hormone therapy and supplements to help prevent osteoporosis.
