Cat scratch fever


An infection of the lymph nodes caused by a scratch or bite from a cat.

Overview

Cat scratch disease is caused by Bartonella henselae bacteria.

Symptoms

Symptoms include a bump, redness, fatigue, headache and discomfort in most cases. Lymph nodes near the injury may swell.

Treatments

This disease generally clears up on its own. In some cases, antibiotics may be needed.
