The Laboratory Team

The lab is equipped with leading-edge technology and analyzers, offering comprehensive testing in the specialties of hematology, chemistry, microbiology, histology, cytology and blood banking. The lab’s analyzers and information systems interface with the Hospital’s main computer system and results are accurately transmitted to the Hospital’s inpatient units and, in many cases, directly to physician offices in a timely, effective manner.

St. Clair Hospital’s Laboratory is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and is accredited by The Joint Commission and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) to fulfill all laboratory testing regulations of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The collection, testing and results-reporting of specimens is a team effort of many professionals in the laboratory including:

  • Pathologists
Physicians specializing in areas such as laboratory medicine, surgical pathology and cytology.
  • Phlebotomists

  • Medical technologists
Clinical laboratory scientists educated and trained to analyze samples to produce accurate and reliable test results.
  • Cytologists and Histotechnologists
