Cardiac Rehab and Wellness

St. Clair Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). 

Certified AACVPR programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available.

Research studies demonstrate that cardiac rehabilitation can improve fitness, improve survival, enhance quality of life, and positively influence cardiovascular risk factors.

Who is eligible?

All participants must have a prescription from their doctor to schedule an initial evaluation. The early outpatient cardiac rehab program (Phase II) is designed for those who have the following medical conditions:

  • Recent heart attack (within the last year)

  • Recent coronary intervention (i.e. angioplasty/stent)

  • Recent Heart Surgery – (Bypass Surgery and/or Valve Replacement, Heart Transplant)

  • Heart failure

  • Stable angina

The Maintenance Cardiac Rehab/Primary or Secondary Prevention Program (Phase III) is designed for participants who have already completed the early outpatient cardiac rehab program or are at risk for developing cardiovascular disease.

What does the program involve?

The program involves individualized exercise, education and counseling designed to promote health and prevent disease.

Our Center

Our center is fully equipped with exercise and monitoring equipment to help you reach your health and fitness goals.  We also utilize resources from other departments such as nutritional services, the diabetes center, and behavioral health based on the individuals’ needs and goals.

Our Staff

Our specially trained staff of clinical exercise specialists, registered nurses, and cardiologist direct your program, monitor your exercise, and communicate your progress to your physicians.  They will be working with you to help you reach your health and fitness goals.
