Q: What sparked your interest to focus in orthopedic surgery?
A: Hip and knee replacements can drastically improve a patient’s quality of life by reducing pain and allowing him/her to regain mobility, culminating with a return to the activities he/she enjoys. This ability to make a tangible difference in people’s lives is very rewarding. I also enjoy the long-term relationships that I build with patients, as I see them through the process of non-surgical management, to pre-operative visits, to the actual surgical procedure, and through the post-operative recovery and rehabilitation.
I also am passionate about the advancements that are currently occurring in hip and knee arthroplasty including improved prosthetic designs, new surgical techniques, and the incorporation of technology, both robotics and navigation.
Finally, I enjoy the collaboration that is necessary for successful lower extremity joint replacement. I work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physician associates, physical therapists, pain management specialists, and other healthcare professionals in order to maximize the outcome for the patient.
