Where does the idea of tailoring your treatment to the uniqueness of your needs come from? It starts with the team—not just behind the scenes, but right out in front—for every patient. Expert care from people who care extends far beyond all service lines—it’s the model that unites St. Clair Health employees as a whole.
“We started trying again right before Asher turned two. We accidentally got pregnant with him, but now we were struggling to get pregnant for a second time after actively trying for some time using ovulation strips, apps and more. When I asked Dr. Turner if that was normal, she said we could start looking into things at that time since I have PCOS,” explains Kayla.
“Successful women can continue being successful—even if they get cancer,” Tess says. “I want to share my story to help erase the stigma around being sick, because when you don’t have hair it’s easy for people to see. But you can still have a life while you’re going through treatment—look at me, I got married! Keeping my hair helped me to have a positive attitude and outlook on the treatment.”
“We started that in November, and I told Dr. Moury it was like liquid gold,” Amy says. “I haven’t had a migraine since.”
The proud mom has been able to consistently work and play, getting back to her favorite hobbies like reading and crocheting that once caused her too much pain to concentrate.
“Don’t ignore the signs,” he says. “If you’re feeling specific shortness of breath or discomfort or you just don’t have the same energy anymore, the time to act is now. Whether it’s aortic stenosis or atrial fibrillation (AFIB), if the heart valve’s involved, we have world-class medical advancements that can make a world of difference—with minimal interruption to your life.”
“I didn’t really think it was that serious because I didn’t feel sick other than being short of breath. And I didn’t really believe it at first because we have no history of heart disease in our family,” shares Kelly. “I’m so thankful every day that Dr. Pray ordered a bedside echocardiogram and admitted me for additional testing. I really feel like he saved my life.”
“One of the main reasons I’m documenting my cancer journey is to help others who may be on the fence. Cancer doesn’t define me—I have a nine-year-old and it feels like every doctor at St. Clair just gets it: I’m not living for myself—I live for this kid. And getting screened—even when I didn’t necessarily want to and I didn’t have any major symptoms—getting a colonoscopy saved my life.”
“It’s one of the most powerful things about the communities we serve. When your team takes great care of people, they point others in need in the right direction— and more often than you might think, that leads them right to my front yard!”
“Elmore and I felt welcomed and surrounded with love. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I thought, if these people make me feel this good, then God must be doing something.”
