Q: What sparked your interest to focus in this particular service line?
A: I took an elective on disaster management as a second year medical student. There, I met a wonderful emergency medicine attending who remains a mentor today. I gravitated towards the pace of the ED and enjoyed being able to see a variety of patients.
Q: What makes you excited to teach residents?
A: I’m excited to share taking care of patients with new, eager learners. We have a very special patient population and see some really high acuity patients. I believe our ED offers an excellent educational experience. I still get excited about resuscitating someone or getting a difficult diagnosis. I look forward to being able to impart the knowledge I’ve gained, while also learning from the residents who have unique backgrounds and experiences to provide.
Q: What interested you to come work for St. Clair Health?
A: I did not grow up in Pittsburgh, but my husband and I found ourselves gravitating to the South Hills when we came back from my residency in Nashville. St. Clair Health has an excellent reputation and has a breadth of expertise and capabilities, especially for a community hospital. I was excited to work in my community taking care of neighbors.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about the city of Pittsburgh?
A: How easy it is to live here and raise a family. There are a multitude of cultural activities, excellent restaurants, and outdoor opportunities. There’s a major international airport. But yet, Pittsburghers are still down to earth, it’s affordable to live here, and the people are friendly.
