Q: What sparked your interest to focus in this particular service line?
A: I love my prior experiences as a teaching attending both inpatient and outpatient, but the fast pace and multifaceted critical thinking skills involved in inpatient medicine provide satisfaction and fulfillment at this time in my career.

Q: What makes you excited to teach residents?
A: I fully believe in the idea of lifelong learning and appreciate being surprised everyday by new experiences, disease presentations, and changes to management or treatment. I love having the opportunity to share those experiences, guide learners in their careers, and demonstrate what quality patient care really means.

Q: What other social/cultural areas are you passionate about (i.e. health equity, food insecurity, etc.)?
A: Equity and inclusion efforts, specifically in gender, race/ethnicity, health, and disability equity; social considerations such as addiction disorders and their treatment in fair and non-judgmental ways.

Q: What interested you to come work for St. Clair Health?
A: I was previously core faculty in a large internal medicine residency program as both an outpatient cohort attending and an inpatient hospitalist role outside of Pennsylvania. I loved this role and everything about being a teaching attending. Pittsburgh area is where I was born and raised and where most of my family is still located. The ability to both move home and be able to make a difference in a budding GME program was too good to pass up.

Q: What’s your most impactful story whether i.e. patient, role model, inspirational, or educational related?
A: I served as a physician in the United States Air Force over the last 6-7 years prior to returning back home to Pittsburgh and St. Clair. In my time there, I had the opportunity to serve the most amazing patient population who dedicated so much of their lives to serving our country. The countless stories of valor, experiences, and struggles have collectively shaped me into the person and physician I am today. It wasn’t just one impactful story, it was hundreds!
