Q: What sparked your interest to focus in this particular service line?
A: I am interested in the field of internal medicine because I find it particularly rewarding due to its multi-disciplinary approach in addressing complex medical conditions.
Q: What makes you excited to teach residents?
A: I’m excited to teach residents because I have a strong desire to improve medical education and prepare residents for the challenges of today and tomorrow’s medicine.
Q: What other social/cultural areas are you passionate about?
A: I feel very strongly about improving patient access as well as changing and improving how we deliver medical care. In addition, I am very passionate about empowering our healthcare team to be active members in process improvement and change.
Q: Who was your role model growing up and helped you along the way to get to where you are today?
A: This is a combination of the past and present, including my former primary care doctor, various mentors along the way, current partners and, most importantly, my wife.
Q: What’s your most impactful story?
A: About 7 years ago, we decided to hit the reset button in our Internal Medicine Division. We deconstructed every aspect of our operation and challenged each other to understand and improve our patients’ journey through the healthcare system. We defined our patient mission and engaged and empowered all of our staff members to be active participants in the process of improvement. I was most inspired by how dedicated they are to this process and how they continue to be leaders, not just in our division, but also across our organization.
