COVID-19 and what we know about the virus is evolving. Our clinical teams are well-prepared to care for patients who may have been exposed to the virus. St. Clair is working with public health officials nationally and throughout the region to monitor the situation and will provide updated information as it becomes available.
As part of our response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, St. Clair Hospital is aggressively taking actions to prevent community spread of the virus, as well as to be ready if substantial numbers of patients require hospitalization.
Under the direction of chief medical officer, John T. Sullivan, MD, St. Clair’s medical staff leadership has decided to postpone elective surgeries to free up resources that may be necessary to treat patients infected with COVID-19. This postponement is effective immediately, and will continue indefinitely until the spread of COVID-19 in the region is contained.
If you have an elective surgery or procedure scheduled in the coming weeks, you will be contacted to reschedule. If you believe your surgery or procedure meets this definition, but you have not been contacted to date, please call your physician for clarification.
Thank you for your understanding. Rescheduling will enable us to redeploy our staff, equipment and supplies to address the current public health concern. The health and safety of our community remains our No. 1 priority.
