Additional Benefits
Workplace Flexibility
Not all departments work the same hourly schedule. As the Hospital must provide service 24 hours a day, every day of the year, employees may be required to be on duty weekends, evenings, nights and holidays. Employees and managers are encouraged to maintain open lines of communication regarding all employment matters, especially scheduling. Employee needs with schedules are met in a variety of ways: 4-, 6-, 8-, 10- and 12-hour shifts may be worked depending on need and availability. In non-clinical areas (i.e., business office environments), start and end times are flexible. Additionally, many employees have an opportunity to work three 12-hour shifts (for a total of 36 hours) while maintaining full-time benefits, while others work four 10-hour days (for a total of 40 hours).
Hospital Services
Employees and dependent members of their immediate family are eligible to receive the current self pay allowance on charges for services provided by the Hospital that are not covered under their health insurance. Deductibles, co-pays and co-insurances do not receive any discounts or allowances.
Employee Assistance Program
St. Clair Hospital’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is provided free-of-charge to employees. Employees may meet with an EAP counselor for assistance with personal problems, including marital and family distress, alcohol and drug dependency, and financial difficulties.
Credit Union
An in-house credit union is available to employees of St. Clair Hospital for checking, savings, loans, online banking and many additional services. Click here to learn more about the credit union.
Business Casual Dress
In areas that do not require healthcare-specific uniforms, St. Clair Hospital has adopted a business casual dress policy.
Employee Flu Vaccine Program
Each year, employees are required to receive a free flu vaccine during the period of time in which announced. The Employee Health department administers the flu vaccine program.
Legal Service and Identity Theft Program
All employees are eligible to participate in a legal service plan and/or identity theft plan. Payroll deduction is available for full- and part- time employees. Stand-by employees may also participate, but must pay premiums through direct debit of their bank accounts. Legal Shield is the carrier and additional information is available to employees.
Critical Illness Insurance Program
This voluntary program provides specific sums of payment to you for diagnosis of several critical illnesses including cancer, heart and certain quality of life diseases. Additional information is available to employees.
Personal Accident Insurance
This voluntary program is designed to pay employees a specific sum of benefits in the event of a non-work related injury. Personal Accident Insurance is available through Lincoln Financial Group. A Personal Sickness Rider is also available.
Hospital Indemnity Insurance
Hospital Indemnity Insurance pays a daily benefit if you have a covered stay in a hospital or critical care unit.
Parking
Free parking is available to all employees in the designated employee parking garage. Employees with 15 years of service or more receive free parking privileges in the main parking garage.
Recognition and Celebration
Employees are a cornerstone of the Hospitals success. We honor and recognize individual and collective achievements that contribute to the mission of St. Clair Hospital, and express our appreciation through a variety of celebrations.
The annual Service Awards dinner is a long-standing recognition of employees’ commitment for every five years of service. Celebrated each September, more than 300 employees gather together with members of the Board of directors, physician leaders and Hospital management to honor and celebrate the service of those in attendance.
