Open to individuals diagnosed with breast cancer, in cooperation with the Cancer Caring Center, this group meets on the third Tuesday of every month from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Hospital. This is a free, non-medical, product-neutral program offered in partnership with the American Cancer Society, the National Cosmetology Association, and the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association (CTFA) Foundation, a charitable organization supported by the cosmetic industry to enhance self-esteem and address the cosmetic side of treatment. The American Cancer Society® provides the Hospital with free wigs for patients with cancer who are experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment. Fittings are provided by trained volunteers in a private setting within the Hosital. Appointments may be made by calling the American Cancer Society® at 1.800.227.2345.
This program is an eight-week workshop held during the year in collaboration with Our Clubhouse™ for persons who have recently undergone treatment for cancer. Each weekly offering provides information on different aspects of health, including exercise, nutrition, meditation, and emotional well-being. A certified lymphedema therapist provides treatment for chronic lymphedema by utilizing manual lymph drainage, compression therapy, exercises and skin care. Please contact Occupational Therapy at 412.942.7122.
