Safe Sitter, a nationally-recognized program, teaches 11 to 13 year old boys and girls to provide safe childcare. The program provides child care basics, ways to recognize and respond to emergencies, tips for injury prevention and behavior management. Students learn infant and child CPR and skills to relieve an obstructed airway. Safety for the sitter and babysitting as a business are discussed. Learning is enhanced through hands-on activities and interactive games. Programs are taught by certified instructors with more than 20 years experience with the Safe Sitter program. Prizes are offered with the interactive games. Each participant receives a Safe Sitter Manual, safety items, and a course completion card. Beverages and snacks are provided throughout the day, though students are asked to bring a brown bag lunch. For additional information, please call 412-942-5877.
