The demand for Medical Assistants continues to increase across the nation. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects a 16 percent growth rate for Medical Assistants Between 2021 and 2031—more than three times the average growth rate for all jobs.

To ensure demand does not outpace capacity in our region, St. Clair Health launched an in-house Medical Assistant Intern Program in the Fall of 2023, and we are thrilled to announce additional classes starting Spring 2025!

Apply for the Medical Assistant Intern Program to gain the knowledge, skills, and certification you need to become a Medical Assistant —all in one place! This is a paid training program, so participants will receive compensation while completing their coursework and clinical training.

Program Details

The Medical Assistant Intern Program will take approximately five months to complete. Participants are required to complete 12 weeks of classes held on site at St. Clair Hospital, followed by 300 hours of hands-on clinical training to take place at one of the regional physician offices.

Program Cost

There is no cost to participate in the Medical Assistant Intern Program outside of providing your own stethoscope and transportation! Participants will complete their coursework in one of our on-site learning centers and receive all hands-on clinical training at St. Clair Health facilities.

Program Requirements

Participants must be a high school graduate or equivalent. You should have a willingness to learn and desire to take on the Medical Assistant role. Following graduation from the program there is a 2-year commitment to work as a full time Medical Assistant in one of the St. Clair Medical Group practices.
