CMS Price Transparency

St. Clair Hospital’s  compliance with  CMS Price Transparency Requirements

Since 2016, St. Clair has promoted price transparency and applauds Medicare’s intent to promote pricing transparency. Within St. Clair’s Patient Estimates tool, you will get an up-to-date estimate of costs (deductible, co-insurance and co-pay), customized to your health insurance and the services you selected (see below example).  You can access Patient Estimates by clicking here. As of January 1, 2021, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS otherwise known as Medicare) established a requirement that hospitals must make public all standard charges for all items and services on a publicly available website in a machine readable format (a file format that can be imported or read into a computer system for further processing). St. Clair complies with the Medicare requirements and you can access a list of all standard charges for all items and services, which includes the payer negotiated rates, as well as the de-identified minimum and maximum rates, in a machine readable format, by clicking here: St. Clair Hospital – Machine Readable File

St. Clair Hospital’s Patient Estimates Tool includes over 300 commonly provided shoppable services in a consumer friendly manner, in compliance with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. Healthcare payment is very complex and we strive to provide information that you find useful.
