There are many ways that you can make a contribution to the St. Clair Hospital Foundation. This link provides you with an overview of some of the popular charitable giving options. In addition, you can look here to find more information about different methods of giving, including charitable trusts, memorial contributions, and the United Way Donor Option program. Click for more information on how and what to give.

Planned Giving
Planned giving is a method of including charitable giving in your long-term financial plan. As a friend of the St. Clair Hospital Foundation, your generosity can benefit your personal goals by enhancing your future financial security. Planned giving includes bequests from estates and life income plans, such as charitable remainder trusts.

As with all financial decisions, a planned gift should be designed with care. St. Clair Hospital Foundation staff will work closely and confidentially with you to help plan for your specific needs and the needs of your family. Click here for more information on Planned Giving.

Bequests
The most common form of planned giving is a gift made through a donor’s will. Individuals may name the St. Clair Hospital Foundation in their wills for a specific amount or a percent share of their estate. The Foundation can also be a residual beneficiary of an estate after payment of bequests to others. Click here for more information on wills.

Charitable Gift Annuities
A gift annuity is a contract between a donor and a charitable institution. The donor makes a gift to the charity, and in return he or she receives annual payments for life, the size of which depends on the donor’s age. A portion of this type of gift is tax deductible, and not all of the annual payments will be taxed as income. Click for more information on Charitable Gift Annuities or to use Gift Calculator.

Charitable Lead Trusts
Charitable lead trusts are most appealing to donors who wish to pass appreciated assets their heirs without paying a substantial amount in taxes. This is accomplished by allowing the St. Clair Hospital Foundation to receive income from the donor’s assets for a specified time, after which the asset is transferred back to the donor or to the donor’s heirs. The donor does pay a gift tax on the asset, which is a placed in the trust. The trust can reduce gift and estate taxes or provide a charitable deduction for the donor. Click for more information on Charitable Lead Trusts or to use Gift Calculator.

Charitable Remainder Trusts
Through charitable remainder trusts, donors can get income tax deductions and escape capital gains taxes. Many donors find the trusts appealing during retirement planning.

Click for more information on Charitable Remainder Trusts or to use Gift Calculator.

Life Insurance Gifts
A gift of whole life insurance can be made to the St. Clair Hospital Foundation by naming the Foundation as the irrevocable owner and beneficiary of the policy. Gifts of life insurance policies require charitable contributions from the donor to the Foundation in the amount of any premiums, including unscheduled premiums, which may become due.

For more information on making the St. Clair Hospital Foundation a beneficiary of your estate, please contact George Bond III. Click here for more information on Life Insurance Gifts.

Memorial Contributions
Memorial gifts honor the deceased by serving the living. Whether great or small, gifts may range from the cost of first aid kit to the renovation of a patient room, each gift identifies a respected name with the good work it supports.

Any gift can be designated as a memorial or honorary gift. When making your gift, please attach an explanation that includes the name of the person you are memorializing or honoring, and the family contact name and address (for memorials) or the individual’s name address (for honorary gifts). We will responsively contact the family or individual to share with them your thoughtfulness. For more information, please contact Vicki Viscomi.

United Way Donor Choice
Designating United Way contributions through the Donor Option program remains a popular way to support the charities of your choice. You can give to the St. Clair Hospital Foundation through the United Way Donor Choice program by selecting designation code 1326.

Please be sure that if you do choose to give through the United Way, that you check the box on your United Way form requesting that your name be released to us so we can acknowledge your contribution.

You may have any amount (minimum $10) automatically deducted from your checking account or debited to a credit card. Just like electronic banking, your generous contribution is easily and automatically transferred.
