Life Insurance
All full time and part time employees are covered with life insurance at one times their annual salary (rounded to the nearest thousand) and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. Additional life insurance is available through payroll deduction in volumes of one, two or three times annual salary. A typical STD policy provides you with a weekly portion of your salary for a predetermined amount of time based upon the plan you purchase.

Retirement/Pension Plan
All employees are covered by the defined benefit retirement plan provided by the Hospital subject to plan eligibility. Employees with five or more years of service are vested in the retirement plan benefits. The benefit is based on years of service and final average earnings. This plan is funded entirely by the hospital and benefits are insured by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. Upon vesting, a future pension benefit is guaranteed (either in the form of a lump sum distribution or monthly annuity) and is not subject to the volatility of investments in the market.
403(b) Tax Sheltered Savings Plan
A 403(b) Plan is a plan that allows you to save money for your retirement in addition to the pension benefit provided to you by the Hospital. If you choose to participate, you receive immediate tax benefits (contributions are deducted from your gross pay before taxes are figured) and you can look forward to potentially rewarding long-term returns through tax-deferred earnings. Investment options include mutual funds with various levels of risk and a guaranteed fixed income account.

Not all departments work the same schedule of hours. As the Hospital must provide service 24-hours a day every day of the year, employees may be required to be on duty some weekends, evenings, nights and holidays. Employees and managers are encouraged to maintain open lines of communication regarding all employment matters, especially scheduling. Employee needs with schedules are met in a variety of ways- 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12-hour shifts may be worked depending on need and availability. In areas where patient care is not an issue, i.e., in business office environments, start and end times are flexible; and where technology allows, telecommuting is possible. Additionally, many employees participate in working three (3) twelve (12) hour shifts for a total of 36 hours while maintaining full-time benefits and other employees work four (4) ten (10) hour days.
