The Gynecological and Urological Services at St. Clair offers a full range of diagnostic and treatment options. New programs are currently in development that will address the issues that women face throughout their lifetimes, including osteoporosis and menopause. In addition, The Center for Women and Children’s Services has a team of gynecological oncology specialists on staff who are skilled in the most advanced cancer care procedures and treatment options.
An advocate from the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh is on-site at The Center for Women and Children’s Services 40 hours a week, and oncall 24 hours a day to provide support, intervention, information, and counseling to women who are victims of domestic violence.
Providing community education programming is one of the key objectives of The Center for Women and Children’s Services. From our Preparation for Childbirth Classes, to our Feminine Focus series, we offer a broad range of seminars, classes, and support groups that address the full continuum of issues facing women and their families throughout their lifetime.
The Family Birth Center at St. Clair focuses on the emotional and physical well being of mothers and babies. This attractive, modern facility has 11 labor, delivery, and recovery rooms fully equipped with the special monitors needed for safe childbirth. Every family is assigned to a team of obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and nurses who focus on the care of the mother and baby. Our in-house pediatrician is on call 24 hours to maintain contact with the baby’s family and personal physician. Along with two operating rooms for cesarean sections, The Family Birth Center has a Special Care Nursery, and a Lactation Center.
The Center for Women and Children’s Services includes a full-service pediatric unit within a warm, family-focused environment. Our staff pediatrician is on call 24-hours a day to help coordinate treatment plans with referring doctors and to ensure that parents remain informed and involved.
Our Level II Nursery is equipped with the most advanced technology to serve our smallest special needs patients, and free accommodations are available for parents who choose to remain with their children during their hospitalization. In addition, we provide educational seminars for new parents, grandparents, and siblings.
