Giving Opportunities
Today, St. Clair Hospital continues to uphold its founding mission of caring for patients by supporting the health and economy of these same communities. And, like years ago, the Hospital must also continue to seek support from its local communities.
At a time when insurance reimbursements for hospital services are declining, St. Clair Hospital must continue to meet the medical needs of its local residents, while also offering a variety of important services and educational programs to help prevent disease. The Hospital’s commitment to improve the overall health of all of the communities it serves drives its mission, not only through in-hospital medical care, but also through extensive community health education services and programs.
Thanks to the support of so many generous donors, the St. Clair Hospital Foundation contributes more than $400,000 annually to the Hospital and its programs and services.
A variety of giving opportunities are available at St. Clair Hospital – some of which are unrestricted (where the need is greatest) and others which are restricted (funds support programs specifically selected by the donor). Current suggested restricted giving opportunities are outlined below; please contact the St. Clair Hospital Foundation at 412.942.2465 for additional information.
Emergency Department Expansion Project
St. Clair Hospital recently doubled the size of its Emergency Department to provide more efficient service for the rapidly growing number of patients who are being treated there. Donations will help pay for the $13.5 million dollar expansion project.

Cardiovascular Services
-
Heart Fund
With more than 45,000 annual visits, Cardiovascular Services at St. Clair Hospital offers many diagnostic services, as well as programs, centered on the heart. This fund helps provide for programs and upgrades to equipment and facilities. One of the programs paid through the Heart Fund is the Heart Truth for Women program. -
Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Scholarships
St. Clair Hospital is home to one of the busiest cardiac rehabilitation programs in southwestern Pennsylvania. Patients with coronary heart disease or heart failure are referred to the St. Clair Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Center. Each patient receives expert evaluation and an individualized exercise program specific to his or her needs. Accredited by the American Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation, St. Clair Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is staffed by specially-trained professionals who customize exercise, education and counseling programs for each patient.
Thanks to the past generosity of St. Clair Hospital Foundation donors, cardiac rehabilitation patients who cannot afford the program’s insurance co-pay can still receive this outstanding care.
Endowment Fund
A strong endowment helps ensure that the Hospital’s world-class healthcare is always available in our community. Gifts to the St. Clair Hospital Foundation Endowment provide an annual income stream for a variety of needs. The gift (principal), which cannot be spent, is invested in an endowment pool of funds, and a pre-determined amount of the annual earned interest is available to fund selected projects and programs that will advance the overall success of the Hospital.

The annual number of patients seeking care at St. Clair Hospital’s Emergency Department is projected to increase to more than 65,000 visits within the next decade.
