How do I get to St. Clair Hospital?

Where do I park?
- Parking is available along the Hospital’s entrance off Bower Hill Road for individuals picking up a discharged patient. Please wait to pull your vehicle into the driveway until the patient is in the lobby.
- Visitors are encouraged to use the Hospital’s parking garage, located at the rear of the Hospital. Access to the parking garage is available from North Wren Drive, Segar Road or the main entrance off Bower Hill Road. A token for $2 must be purchased to exit this lot.
- Limited parking is also available in the open air lot at the Hospital’s main entrance off Bower Hill Road. A token for $2 must be purchased to exit this lot.
- Visitors may briefly stop to pick up or discharge a passenger at the main entrance or the rear entrance.
- Emergency Department patients and vistors to the ER may use our free 24-hour-a-day valet service.
- Speed limit is 5 miles per hour on Hospital property.
- St. Clair Hospital Police will issue citations to those who violate parking and traffic regulations, such as parking in a handicapped area, parking in fire zones, or parking on sidewalks.
Parking Tokens
Parking tokens are necessary to exit the parking garages and lots. Tokens can be purchased for $2 apiece at the following locations:
- Token vending machines in the Fourth Floor lobby and at the First Floor exit of the Professional Office Building
- First Floor Welcome Center
- Fourth Floor Welcome Center
- Inpatient Cashier (Fourth Floor)
- Patient Registration (Third Floor)
Special Parking Services
Valet parking is available at the entrance of the Professional Office Building off North Wren Drive (just before the entrance to the parking garage), and at the main entrance off Bower Hill Road. Drive your car to either entrance and tell the attendant you would like to have your car valet parked.
Cost: $4 ($2 for handicapped drivers)

How do I contact a patient who is in the Hospital?
If you know the patient’s room number, dial 412.942, followed by the four-digit room number. If you do not know the patient’s room number, call the main number at 412.942.4000 and the operator will assist you.
Who do I contact if I have a billing question?
Billing questions can be answered by our customer service staff in Patient Accounting by calling 412.942.8157, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. You may also call the customer service number that is listed at the bottom of your statement or stop by the cashier’s office on the Fourth Floor of the Hospital.
How do I find doctors who are associated with St. Clair Hospital?
You can visit the Physician Directory section of this Website or call the Physician Referral Service at 412.942.6560 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
Can I register for laboratory work prior to the date of service?
Patients can pre-register for laboratory services the day before their visit to the lab. To register, please contact the Patient Access Department Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 412. 942.3600. Patients who wish to have services conducted on a Saturday or Monday should pre-register on Friday.
Please have your laboratory service prescription and insurance cards available when calling to register. You will be asked to read your diagnosis and the prescribed lab tests.
Do I have to bring my insurance card with me each time I visit?
You will need to bring your card with you if your insurance changed since your last visit or if it has been more than 45 days between visits. Otherwise, you do not need to bring your card.
Do I need pre-authorization from my insurance carrier for certain procedures?
Pre-authorization is required for specified services based on your insurance company’s requirements and processing guidelines. Required pre-authorization for service must be obtained prior to the date of service to minimize the risk of increased patient responsibility or deferred service. In most cases, the doctor who is requesting the service will work with your insurance company to obtain authorization for service. Some insurance companies can take up to 72 hours to process and provide authorization.

Does St. Clair Hospital offer payment options?
Yes, St. Clair Hospital offers payment plans for outstanding patient responsibilities as part of its Charity Care/Financial Assistance Program Policy. St. Clair’s payment plans are based on minimum monthly payments spread out over a period of up to 24 months, and are based on the outstanding patient balance. The minimum monthly payment is $25 for balances that are less than $150.
How can I get a copy of my child’s birth certificate?
You must contact the Pennsylvania Department of Health for a copy of a legal birth certificate. The request can be made by telephone, U.S. mail or the Internet. There is a fee involved.

How do I get a copy of my medical records?
You can visit the Medical Records Department on the Fourth Floor of the Hospital and complete an “Authorization for Use or Release of Protected Health Information” form. Your request will be processed within five business days. The fee for the copies is based upon the fee schedule set by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. You may also contact the Medical Records Department by telephone at 412.942.1102 and request that copies be processed through the U.S. Mail.

What should I bring with me when I’m admitted?
- A list of all medications and supplements you are currently taking
- A copy of your living will/advance directives

Where do I go to be admitted?
For all non-emergency patients, the Patient Registration Department is located on the Third Floor of the Hospital. Enter the Hospital via the Professional Office Building entrance on the First Floor and take the visitor elevators to the Third Floor. Patient Registration will be directly in front of you.
How can my friends and family reach me while I’m an inpatient?
All St. Clair Hospital patient rooms have direct dial access. Simply dial 412.942, followed by the patient’s four-digit room number. The main Hospital number is 412.942.4000.
