Palliative Care Services
St. Clair Hospital’s Palliative Care Service is a unique program available to all patients with chronic and/or advanced diseases, regardless of life expectancy.
This service strives to maximize quality of life, emphasizing compassion, respect and dignity for patient and family. Our program uses a team approach consisting of the physician, nurse, social worker, pharmacist, spiritual counselor and other appropriate disciplines to provide comprehensive, compassionate care for all patients.
Our commitment is to emphasize compassion and state-of-the-art medical care. We focus on the comprehensive management of the physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and practical needs of patients and their loved ones.

Palliative Care complements many aspects of disease-directed care, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy for cancer, as well as symptoms or problems associated with other chronic diseases. The palliative care nurse collaborates with the physician to establish a plan of care that includes symptom management and offers guidance with decision making.
