St. Clair Hospital's Innovation In Technology Advances Patient Care
St. Clair Hospital developed a high-tech software company that eventually was acquired by a multi-billion dollar global pharmaceutical and medication delivery company. Embracing technology to enhance patient care has been part of the Hospital's strategy for many years.
Code Care
Because no one knows our patients as well as their own families, St. Clair Hospital has developed a new program designed to provide additional assistance and support to patients and their families. The team can also provide support to the bedside nurse with communication and problem solving issues. The Family Activated Care Team, or Code Care, is a way to empower families, giving them a sense of security and control.
Defect Free Care - Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
St. Clair Hospital receives Bronze and Silver Status for defect free care of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).
St. Clair Hospital Achieves Significant Advancement in Information Technology
St. Clair Hospital is among the 0.3 percent of hospitals who have achieved a significant advancement in their Information Technology (IT) capabilities that positions the Hospital to successfully address many of the upcoming industry transformations health care organizations will be experiencing in the near future. Low Beds Aid in Fall Prevention
St. Clair Hospital is enhancing its already successful Fall Prevention program by adding more “low beds” throughout the Hospital.

Stage 6 Hospitals
HIMSS Analytics created the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) to provide a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record (EMR) systems for acute care delivery environments.
Some hospitals have achieved IT environments that support higher levels of automated patient care delivery. Stage 6 hospitals have achieved a significant advancement in their IT capabilities that positions them to successfully address many of the upcoming industry transformations we will be experiencing in the near future (e.g., HIPAA Claims Attachment, pay for performance, and government quality reporting programs).
VTE Prophylaxis or Prevention
St. Clair Hospital nurses and other staff are being feted by the Office of Healthcare Quality Improvement for their outstanding performance in VTE prophylaxis or prevention.
VTE or venous thromboembolism is a disease that includes Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE). DVT is a condition in which a clot forms in a blood vessel – usually in the leg – due to inactivity. The risk grows measurably if the clot should break off and travel to a lung, resulting in a PE.
