  • 2010 Recipient of the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) Achievement Award.  St. Clair Hospital was honored for improving patient safety through standardization of anticoagulation processes. This award reflects multidisciplinary team spirit, creativity, and focus on safe patient care delivery that is so important.

  • Honored by Fine Awards for cutting patient wait time in the ER
    November 18, 2009 - St. Clair Hospital won first place in the annual Fine Awards for cutting the average wait of patients in the emergency room by a half hour during the past year.

  • The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) has named St. Clair Hospital as a dual winner in HAP’s 2009 Achievement Awards Program. St. Clair Hospital was recognized for thoroughly and successfully demonstrating the Hospital’s innovation, creativity and commitment to patient care and operational excellence. St. Clair’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab was recognized as having the fastest "door-to-balloon" time of all hospitals in southwestern Pennsylvania that treat heart attack victims with balloon angioplasty. St. Clair Hospital's emergency department was also recognized for improving patient flow in the emergency department using Toyota-Based Methods. The Achievement Awards Program is designed to showcase hospital and health system best practices in selected areas.

  • Highmark Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care. The designation serves as formal recognition that St. Clair has met or exceeded the eligibility criteria that demonstrate reliability in delivering cardiac care and better overall outcomes for patients.
  • MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) mammography certification - February 2008.
  • Silver and Bronze awards from the American Heart Association for Defect Free Care for the months May 2007 - June 2008.
  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement recognition - the only hospital in Pennsylvania selected for a site visit for the Hospital's "5 Million Lives Fall" campaign - November 2007.
  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Innovation Challenge winner - December 2007.
  • One of only six hospitals in the United States to receive a “Stage 6” designation from Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. This classification confirms the Hospital successfully implemented information technologies across a multitude of systems to improve quality outcomes, patient safety and planning for future business changes.   • Voluntary Hospitals of America (VHA) Awards
    St. Clair is consistently recognized by the VHA for clinical excellence and has received numerous APEX (Achieving Patient Care Excellence) awards, including those in the following areas:
    • Sustaining zero central line associated bacteremia (CLAB) infections in the Intensive Care Unit (April 2008)
    • Decreasing ventilator assisted pneumonia (VAP) (April 2008)
    • Decreasing methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in the Intensive Care Unit (April 2008)
    • Achieving Greenlight Status, a 90 percent compliance with each of the quality measures in the Surgical Care Improvement Project National Quality Measure set 
    • Received Accreditation with Commendation from the American College of Surgeons as a comprehensive community cancer center.

  • Effectiveness of Rapid Response Team in decreasing mortality rate.
  • St. Clair was selected by VHA National as a Blueprint Hospital for fall prevention in January 2008, and was recognized for achieving greater than 90 percent compliance with all measures in April 2008.

  • Best treatment times in southwestern Pennsylvania for treating a heart attack patient, from the moment of arrival at the Emergency Department to the time the patient receives a balloon angioplasty to open a blockage, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid and the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations – 2008.
  • “Exemplary” rating from Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, resulting in full accreditation - February 2008. 
     
  • Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Pittsburgh, PA.  The award demonstrates St. Clair's expertise in delivering quality healthcare in the areas of knee and hip replacement, as well as the Hospital's overall quality and safety of specialty care.
